What is mental health skill building?
Mental health skill-building services (MHSS) can be defined as goal-directed training to enable individuals to achieve and maintain community stability and independence in the most appropriate, least restrictive environment.
What are the qualification for MHSS?
Clients must have a diagnosed mental disorder that has been documented by their physician. Each potential client must have prescription for antidepressant, antipsychotic or mood stabilizing medication within the last 12 months. As well as a prior history of one of the following, TDO, ICT, PCR services, residential/nonresidential crisis stabilization or psychiatric hospitalization.
Clients must also have a need for one on one training obtaining basic living skills such as personal hygiene, money management, food preparation, symptom management, adherence to a psychiatric and medication treatment plan, development and proper use of social skills.
