At Love of Lyfe, LLC, we are dedicated to supporting individuals on their journey toward healing, stability, and independence. We provide comprehensive mental health and substance abuse services, tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.

We are committed to addressing immediate mental health and/or recovery needs while also equipping clients with the tools to maintain long-term stability. This includes developing coping skills, enhancing emotional wellness, fostering independence, and providing guidance in areas such as life skills, financial stability, and community reintegration.

MENTAL HEALTH SKILL-BUILDING & SUBSTANCE ABUSE

WHAT IS MENTAL HEALTH SKILL-BUILDING?

 

Mental Health Skill-Building is a community-based, goal-directed service aimed at helping individuals with serious mental health conditions develop practical skills that support independent community living. These skills may include:

  • Daily living tasks (e.g., cooking, personal hygiene, money management)
     
  • Medication management and understanding symptoms
     
  • Navigating community resources and appointments
     
  • Enhancing social skills and building support networks
     

Sessions are usually one hour long, offered in the home or community settings, and tailored to each person's needs and goals.

 

Who Qualifies for Mental Health Skill-Building Services in Virginia?


                   To be eligible for MHSS, individuals must meet the following criteria:


  1. Primary Mental Health Diagnosis: A documented diagnosis of a serious mental illness, such as:
     
    • Schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders
       
    • Major depressive disorder
       
    • Bipolar I or II disorder
       
    • Any other serious mental health disorder, as documented by a physician within the past year, that results in severe and recurrent disability and functional limitations in major life activities
       

  1. Need for Individualized Skill-Building: Requires training in basic living skills, including:
     
    • Symptom management
       
    • Medication adherence
       
    • Personal hygiene and nutrition
       
    • Money management
       
    • Use of community resources
       

  1. History of Intensive Mental Health Treatment: A documented history of any of the following:
     
    • Psychiatric hospitalization
       
    • Crisis stabilization services
       
    • Intensive Community Treatment (ICT) or Program of Assertive Community Treatment (PACT)
       
    • Placement in a psychiatric residential treatment facility
       
    • Temporary Detention Order (TDO) evaluation
       

  1. Medication History: Has been prescribed antipsychotic, mood-stabilizing, or antidepressant medications within the past 12 months, or has documented medical contraindications for such medications
     
  2. Age-Specific Criteria:
     
    • Ages 21 and older: Must meet the above criteria
       
    • Ages 18–20: Must not be living in a supervised setting and may receive services up to six months prior to transitioning to independent living





                                                         


WHAT IS ASAM 2.1/IOP PROGRAM?

 Our ASAM 2.1 Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed for individuals who need structured support for substance use recovery but do not require 24-hour residential care. This program offers a balance of treatment and flexibility, allowing clients to continue working, attending school, or caring for their families while receiving the help they need.

                                      

                                             Program highlights:


  • 9 hours per week of structured treatment
     
  • Services provided 3 days a week, about 3 hours per session
     
  • Combination of group therapy, individual counseling, family support, relapse prevention, and life skills training
     
  • Focused on reducing substance use, strengthening coping skills, and building a supportive recovery network

                                     

                            


           Who Qualifies for ASAM 2.1 / IOP?


                              To qualify for this level of care, individuals must:


  • Have a diagnosed substance use disorder (alcohol or drugs)
     
  • Require more treatment than standard outpatient counseling but do not need residential or inpatient care
     
  • Be able to participate safely in an outpatient setting
     
  • Show a need for structured therapy to address relapse risk, cravings, coping skills, and life management
     
  • Demonstrate willingness to engage in treatment and work toward recovery goals
